Do I get accrued vacation time when my employment ends?

In Connecticut, an employer is only required to pay accrued but unused vacation time if it has a written policy that indicates that you are entitled to these benefits at the end of your employment. See

In Massachusetts, employers must pay accrued but unused vacation time at the end of employment regardless of the employers policy. TheMassachusetts Attorney General has written “upon separation from employment, employees must be compensated by their employers for vacation time owed, under oral or written agreement.” Read more here.

These benefits are treated like wages under Massachusetts law and an action may be brought for triple damages and attorneys fees if the employer doesn’t pay.
