Deborah McKenna joins the Hayber Law Firm with nearly twenty years of experience devoted to advancing the rights of employees in Connecticut. Throughout her career, Ms. McKenna has represented employees in a wide range of employment issues, ranging from severance negotiations, breach of contract and non-competition litigation to unemployment compensation, family and medical leave issues to discrimination and labor matters.
She has litigated in a wide range of administrative agencies, such as the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, the Connecticut Department of Labor, the Connecticut Office of Health Care Access, the Connecticut Department of Utilities Control, the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the federal Department of Labor as well as various state and federal courts. Ms. McKenna has a strong commitment to advancing the legal rights of women.
Prior to joining The Hayber Law Firm in January of 2016, Ms. McKenna practiced with the Stamford-based firm of Emmett & Glander, from June of 2010 through December 2015. From 2007 until 2010, Ms. McKenna was employed as Of Counsel at plaintiff's side employment law firm, Outten & Golden, in the firm’s Stamford office.
Ms. McKenna began her career at plaintiff's side labor and employment law firm, Livingston, Adler, Pulda, Meiklejohn and Kelly in Hartford Connecticut, where she spent the first ten years of her practice working her way up from law clerk to partner. At each of these firms, Ms. McKenna has worked hard to protect and advance the rights of employees.
Over the course of her career, Ms. McKenna has written and lectured on various issues related to employment law and practice, worked on legislation on employment law issues and often testifies at the Connecticut General Assembly on issues affecting Connecticut workers. Ms. McKenna is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut and the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.
