Quitting a Job and Unemployment

Can my employer deny me unemployment benefits if I quit my job?

Sometimes, you will be entitled to unemployment even if you quit your job.  If you quit because your employer cuts your hours significantly, because your employer changes the conditions of your employment (for example, but discriminating against you), or because your employer cuts your wages, you may still be entitled to unemployment benefits.  There is a requirement that you try to remedy the problem before you quit, so be sure to explore ways of staying on the job before you leave.  You may also still be entitled to benefits if you leave to care for a sick family member or lose your transportation.
