Paid Time Off Versus Overtime

Can my employer make me accept paid time off instead of time and half pay when I work overtime?

Not under current law, but the U.S. House of Representatives recently passed a bill

that would allow employees to choose between accepting paid time off instead of time and a half overtime pay when they work more than 40 hours in a week. Federal and state government workers have this option already. Generally, Republicans say that for some people, time off is more valuable than money; Democrats fear that employers will pressure employees into taking paid time off to save money on payroll.
What do you think? Would you rather have overtime pay or paid time off if you worked more than 40 hours in a week? Weigh in on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/hayberlaw or tweet us at @hayberlawfirm!
