Can I be fired because of my race?

Obviously, the answer is no, not today you can’t.

Not since 1964 when the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed and signed by President Johnson.  It would have been signed by Kennedy a year early, but his assassination delayed this important law.

Of course, we have to give much of the credit for this law to the late Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr.  His tireless work in the civil rights movement was a driving force to pass this law prohibiting discrimination in the workplace.

Happy Birthday, Doctor King (born January 15, 1929) and thank you for your sacrifice!
